Creative Arts Exhibition
Bass
Group did extremely well at the recent CWA State Creative Arts
Exhibition held in Bendigo, taking out the first prize in the state
for Home Industries. Our theme was “The Vegie Patch”
The
display consisted of Grandchildren's Beetroot cut in a variety of
shapes to encourage children to eat beetroot, Pumpkin Cake, Italian
Vegetable Pickle, Sweet Chilli and Ginger Sauce and Tomato Relish,
all in matching containers.A number of our members won first prizes. Lyn Stebbing won the cup for the finest piece of work in the exhibition by a member of a Branch with membership of less than 60 with a finely hand quilted trapunto quilt, which also scored a green star for exceptional workmanship.
Other
winners included Jayne Mitchell, Cowes, China Painting, Faye Tuchtan,
Coronet Bay, Adult Knitted Jumper, Hilary Hutchings, Nyora Night
Branch, Fur Fabric Bears, Abbi Cininas, Woodleigh Vale Branch,
Crochet dog, Gwenda Swan, Grantville Branch, Pave and Belinda Smart,
Nyora Night Branch, Handwoven Scarf.
To
win these prizes at state Level shows great skill and ability, which
our group members have in abundance.

Group CWA Half Yearly Conference.
Our
conference on August 10th
at Nyora Hall was a great success.
Councillor
Lorraine Brunt ,South Gippsland Council opened the conference.Elizabeth Skidmore regaled us with anecdotes of Bass Coast History which were amusing and informative. Our group covered a lot of business including craft, catering and social issues, including the work done to prevent family violence.
Deputy State President CWA Machelle Crichton announced that CWA Victoria will make a bid to hold the 2019 World Conference in Melbourne.
